Gym business plan India: ek page mein poora template

Gym business plan template for India.

Short answer

A gym business plan should cover the market, your model, location and size, set-up spend, monthly costs, a revenue build, staffing and a 90-day launch plan. Fill each with your own quotes and rent, then test the totals against a breakeven target. WTF's breakeven track record is 90 days.

The eight sections of a gym business plan

A plan for a gym does two jobs: it tells you whether the gym is worth opening, and it is what a lender or partner will ask to see. Keep it short and honest. Eight sections are enough.

  1. Market: who lives or works within a short trip of the gym, and what they already pay to train.
  2. Model: what you sell (monthly and annual memberships, personal training, classes) and to whom.
  3. Location and size: the catchment, the lease, and the floor area. WTF Powered is built for gyms of 2,500+ sq ft.
  4. Set-up spend: floor, equipment, licences, deposits, and the launch marketing. Use quotes, not guesses.
  5. Monthly running costs: rent, salaries, electricity, upkeep, software and marketing.
  6. Revenue build: members by month, the fee mix, renewals and personal training.
  7. Staffing: who you hire before opening, who reports to whom, and how you replace someone who leaves.
  8. The first 90 days: what has to be true by day 30, day 60 and day 90.

A skeleton you can fill in

Copy the table below into a sheet. We have left the rupee cells empty on purpose: rent, salary and equipment prices depend on your city and your building, and a plan built on somebody else's numbers is worse than no plan.

LineYour numberWhere it comes from
Paying members at month 6____Your catchment and your sales capacity
Average fee per member per month____Your plan ladder
Monthly revenue____Members x average fee
Monthly rent____Your lease
Monthly staff cost____Your roster and salaries
Other monthly costs____Electricity, upkeep, software, marketing
Monthly profit____Revenue less all costs
Total money in before opening____Quotes and deposits
Months to get it back____Money in / monthly profit

The ladder WTF uses to judge a gym's first year is a useful target for the last row of your plan:

  1. 90days

    Foundation

SOPs live, CRM running, staff trained, renewal calendar on.

  2. 180days

    Numbers moving

Retention above 70%, PT attached, marketing tracked weekly.

  3. 365days

    Profit repeating

Annual plans as the hero, owner out of the front desk.

Plan ko numbers se check karo

Plans usually fail in the same place: the revenue line assumes members stay, and the cost line assumes rent and salaries stay flat while the gym is still empty. Test yours with three questions.

  • If renewals come in weaker than you assumed, does the gym still cover rent and payroll?
  • How many paying members does it take to cover fixed costs, and by which month can you realistically get there?
  • Who sells, who follows up, and who calls the members whose plans end this week?

The gym profit calculator runs the renewal question for you on six of your own numbers, and what a gym really earns explains the leaks that break most plans. For the set-up lines, see gym setup cost; for owner take-home, gym owner income.

Opening a new gym? Plan it with an operator

A plan is easier to keep when someone who has run gyms since 2021 reads it before you sign the lease. WTF welcomes owners who have not opened yet: book the free audit and tell us you are opening a new gym. Next in the sequence is how to open a gym, step by step.

What should a gym business plan include?

The market, your model, location and size, set-up spend, monthly running costs, a revenue build, staffing, and a 90-day launch plan. Use your own quotes, rent and salaries in every cost line.

Do I need a business plan to get a gym loan?

Lenders generally ask for a written plan with your costs, revenue build and payback period. Requirements differ by lender, so ask yours what it wants to see before you finalise the document.

How much profit should the plan assume?

Do not assume a profit; build it from members, fees and costs. Then stress-test it with weaker renewals. WTF's breakeven track record is 90 days, which is a target for the payback row, not a guarantee for your gym.

Can I get a gym business plan in Hindi?

This page mixes Hindi and English on purpose, the way owners talk. The eight sections and the table work in any language, so fill them in the one you and your partners are comfortable with.
